** drum roll ** 🥁
Starting today, we’re launching a brand-new section on the Orchidfriends blog—dedicated to one of my other longtime plant loves: Schlumbergera 🌵 aka the Christmas Cactus and friends!
I’ve been growing these plants since my teens—not just for their gorgeous blooms, but also for their green presence year-round. What do the Schlumbergera and Phalaenopsis orchid have in common? Like Phalaenopsis orchids, holiday cacti are epiphytes, which means (as many of you already know) they grow in the “air” in nature, attached to other plants—not 0n the ground, in soil. That little connection inspired me to create this new corner on the blog: the Schlumbergera Corner!
In this new section, we’ll be covering all the holiday cacti—Christmas, Thanksgiving, and Easter varieties. You’ll find tips on care, repotting, ID’ing, ideal spots to keep them, and lots more.
I’m so excited to share this journey with you, and I hope you’re just as excited to follow along.
Much love,
Irene 💚
